I live in costa rica and the nicaraguans that come here are dirt poor. Most only own the clothes on their body or something. They come here to pick coffee from the plantages and get 1000CRC/sack that weighs about 10kg.
Its a fucking slave work. Download cs condition zero maps. 1000CRC (Costa Rica Colon) are like USD1.90 so not much. And when they worked for like 2 weeks they begin their big shopping trip and suddenly you see them with new phones, new clothes, going to drink in bars etc. And after like 3 months the coffee season is over and they go back home (some overstay their visa and stay here illegally, they arent as poor here as in nicaragua.).
Yes they do well. But they actually get payed really low wages even compared to costa rican wages. If youd convert it to hourly pays it would maybe be about 50UScent /hour. (As they dont get payed per hour but per sack they fill it can vary a bit). And still they behave as if they found a goldmine. (Throwing money at everything, like going out to drink, buying new phones etc).
I say this so you can see how nicaragua compares to its neighbour costa rica. And I have to say in costa rica people seem to work for really low wages and be happy about it. Im a german immigrant and I have 2 guys working in my garden and they only want (i asked them how much they want) like 1500CRC (like $1.50)/hour. And still they are more than happy that I pay them more than they expected (I am the „rich european“ for them even though in german standarts I am like lower middle class). Thats my point yes.
I have only about 2000square meters. But the soul is great. You only have to watch for stuff like „red soil is unusable“ and „black soil is really great“. So I have the house build on red soil (its more firm and due to the earthquakes that sometimes come better)and my plants are in black soil. And yeah those are pretty much the both types that you encounter here.
I have tropical fruits (I only know the spanish names, or maybe the german, but like Guanabana, Banana, Pineapple, Manzana de Agua, Platano (like banana but not sweet)),and of course „normal“ things (like potatoes, onions, vine, oranges, etc). And many more.
Other than that I have animals like chickens (I have them running freely but not every day. I have a few chicken races that have to stay separated to remain pure. But they are like 100 chickens. So they are free in their appropriate race on different days.)In a few days I will have the first two pigs. Yeah the animals are for meat and eggs.
I wont have a cow on that small land but in the area there are cows. So its totally possible.
Sadly I dont have pictures, I would like to share some, but it is impossible due to doxxing (I am away from Germany for a private but important reason that I cant get public, and I cant take the risk, sorry for that).
